Last Saturday, the Dragons were hosting the one before last game of the regular phase in the "Regionalliga" Championship.
The day was perfect for rugby. The spectators were numerous to support the local team and the weather conditions perfect to enjoy a good game.
The Rugby Club Essen showed up with a full squad, ready to offer a strong fight to the Düsseldorf players.
The game started very strong as the Dragons managed to score their first try right on the first ball received from Essen's kick-Off, followed by another try in the 8th minute.
The Dragons continued to apply pressure and scored three more tries before the opponent could replicate and score their first points with a try at the 30th minute.
The Essen players did not give up and continued to play a good rugby, scoring another try before the half time, but the Dragons were too strong and managed to end the first half with a comfortable score of 45 points to 12.
In the second half, the Rugby Club Essen showed a more aggressive face and manage to put the Dragons defense under much pressure. Although the defense resisted very well, Essen ended up scoring two more tries in the second half, but the Dragons with the support of the fresh players from the bench also managed to cross the try line four more times in the second time, getting another strong win with a total of 73 points to 24.
Congratulations to our players who did the job and managed to keep the Dragons at the top of the table.
One last game to go against the Rugby Club of Bonn on the 24th May at home.
