A proper start of the Rugby season for many this weekend

The Düsseldorf Dragons U14 team made a great start to the season, winning both of their matches and taking the tournament title in Bonn.
The Dragons opened with a 38–7 victory over a strong Köln side. The forwards and backs worked well together throughout, making it an impressive team performance.
They carried that momentum into their second match, beating the combined Aachen, Maastricht and Wiedenbrück team 64–7. Excellent attacking plays, a couple of cheeky interceptions and powerful forward set pieces kept the pressure on and gave their opponents little chance to get into the game.
The hosts, Bonn/Köln, won a closely contested match for second place.
Congratulations to everyone who took part, and well done to the Dragons on a successful start to the season!

Although not a start for our U16 and U18 players who already had games this season, both teams performed well on Saturday and brought back additional wins with the mixed teams they are involved in.

For the senior men's team, the first game of the season represented a big challenge. Welcoming the players from the Rugby Club Bonn-Rhein-Sieg has always been the theatre of highly competitive games and Saturday's game lived up to expectations.
From the start of the game, the Dragons applied pressure to their opponents both in attack and defence. They quickly found solutions to take the upper hand. The quality of the teamwork through the entire game allowed them to score a total of 31 points. Although they were dominated most of the game, the players from Bonn kept the game physical to the end and managed to cross the try line once in the first half and to come back to a total score of 24 points in the last 20 minutes.
Congratulations to the Düsseldorf players for this great start of the season with a strong performance.

The weekend was also a first for our young generation of players. The children from the U8, U10 and U12 age groups travelled to Aachen for the first rugby tournament of the season. All players enjoyed a great day of rugby with perfect weather conditions and good participation from the clubs of the region.
For our U8 and U10 groups, the lack of experience as players and as teams was too much to overcome. Anyhow, all players showed some high motivation and did not give up despite the challenging games. This first experience for many will for sure be beneficial for their future development as rugby players.
Our U12 team took advantage of the strong basis from last season and the input of the newly promoted players to deliver two very well handled games against two strong teams. Congratulations to this team for their first tournament win of the season.

All in all, this weekend brought a lot of satisfaction to many of the Dragons trainers who could already witness the fruits of their input and the hard work of their players. Congratulations to them. We are convinced that the Dragons are at the start of a great season and hope to report many more wins in the near future.
