Good weekend for the Dragons

The senior men's team wins the Rhineland derby

On Saturday, the Düsseldorf Dragons welcomed the players of the RSV Köln second team to play the Rhineland derby game. The weather conditions were perfect for a great game of rugby. From the start to the end, the Düsseldorf players played a very well structured rugby which gave them many opportunities to score. The Dragons defence was also strong and well organised. Despite all their efforts, the Köln players did not manage to cross the try line during the game. Unfortunately, the Köln players did not have many substitutes which could be felt at the end of the game, but they kept fighting no matter what and gave the Dragons some work to keep their try zone untouched. In the end, the Dragons win the game with a score of 75-0. Congratulations to all involved players and let's hope the Düsseldorf team keeps the same momentum in the coming games.

Thanks to our photographers Manuela and Wolfram Wilms, you can check the photos of the game in our website photo gallery. Some short videos of this game are also available in the website video gallery. Enjoy.

The young generation also won.

Our U16 and U18 players were also playing with the other players of the MAD mixed team (Maastricht, Aachen, Düsseldorf).

The U16 travelled to Leiden to play against the RC DIOK. With a total of 8 tries scored, they won this away game 50-0. Congratulations to them.

For the U18 players, the game took place in Aachen against the RRC. It is the RRC that scored first, but the MAD players managed to come back and despite the pressure in the last minutes from the RRC, they secured their win with a score of 19 to 14.
Big applause to our young players for these results.

Strong performance from our women's team.

On Sunday, our senior women's team travelled in Bonn for its second tournament of the season.

The Düsseldorf players had a perfect start in the tournament with a first win against the ladies of the DarMaGie (32-5) followed by a second win with 25 point to 0 against Kaiserbrücken. The third game proved to be more of a challenge, but despite the pressure, The Dragons manage to end the game with a draw (17-17) against the women's team of Karlsruhe. Unfortunately, their last game ended up with a loss against the team BiBo despite the great effort of our ladies to come back in this game from a 0-17 score to a final one of 19-26.
With these results, the Düsseldorf Dragons Women's team ended at the third place of the tournament. Congratulations for this strong result.
