The Dragons successfully challenge the RC Essen on their pitch
On Saturday 27th September, the Dragons had their first away game of the season against a very serious contender, the RC Essen.
The Düsseldorf players expected a physical and hard game. They were not disappointed. The RC Essen started the game with high intensity, winning their first scrums, applying pressure in the rucks and pushing the Dragons to make mistakes and give away penalties. At the end of the first half, the local team was leading with a score of 14:7.
But the Dragons never gave up. In a situation where they could have lost their composure and their structure, the Düsseldorf players found the resources and reacted as a team. They corrected various aspects of the game, starting with the scrums where they largely dominated their opponents. This gave the team confidence and allowed it to stay in the game and come back with tries to finally win the game with 29 points when the RC Essen scored a total of 21 points.
A solid performance from the Düsseldorf team. This was not the best game the Dragons ever played, but the attitude of the players under pressure and the capacity to work has a team showed that hard work and supporting each other works.
Congratulations to the Dragons for this win and thank you to the RC Essen for this very tough, physical and fair game.
