NRW Tackle-Corona Cup Matchday 2

News_32_-_Intro

Our first team, the Dwägons, remains unbeaten on their second match day. On the day of the German reunification, they beat Cologne's first team with a score of 65:12 and took home some important points for the Düsseldorf Dragons. During the first two thirds, the first team managed to build up a 26-Point lead. The last third turned the game into a high-scoring match. Both sides, especially the Dragons 1st Team, gave everything they had and started firing on all cylinders. Try after Try – by the minute and later on by the second! The next two weeks, our team will keep continuing their hard work in the defensive line to eliminate receiving tries altogether.

Our second team, the Fireballs, really stepped up their efforts after their last defeat against Essen. With a brilliant start to the game, they scored their first try within 10 seconds after the Kick-Off. Followed by another Kick-Off…and another Try! So, after less than 2 minutes into the game, the Fireballs were leading with a score of 10:0. Following that, SG Solingen/Hürth/Brühl woke up, played well and scored some well-deserved points. From then on, it was a back and forth on the pitch, which made for some good spectator rugby. During the second third of the game, the guests could turn the match in their favour and managed to gain a 28-Point lead. This had little impact on the Fireballs morale. They fought back hard and managed to cut that 28-Point lead in half to 14 points. Within the last 20, our guests from Solingen,Hürth and Brühl managed to make less mistakes and played clever, which enabled them to take the Win with a final score of 57:43.

We would like to thank our resident photographers, Gabriel Boia and Werner Thorenz, who took some fantastic photos of both games this weekend. For more, please visit our Gallery.

The second team will be visiting the Willich Wasps this coming Sunday. Kick-Off will be at 3 pm. Our first team will not be playing this weekend.
