Junior Dragons visit Bonn

On Sunday the 12th of June the final NRW Youth Tournament of the season took place at the RCBRS in Bonn on a beautiful warm and sunny day. A total of 30 young Dragons made a strong appearance to compete against different regional teams for the last time this season.

Both of our U8 teams joined with players from Bonn and Hürth. As usual, they played with ambition and most importantly had a lot of fun and ended their match day taking 1st and 4th place.

Following their good results at preceding tournaments, our U10 Dragons were in good spirits and faced strong opposition by both RC Aachen and RSV Köln, managing to win both of their games 8:6 and 4:3 respectively. The warm conditions and the fact that they had to play both matches back to back, especially the second game against a fresh and determined opponent, made for a tough mental and physical challenge! Well done!

Our U12 were highly motivated, inspired by the special experience they had at the German U12Championship in Berlin. They faced their first match against a well organised RSV Köln team,conceding 20:35, however it must be noted that all of their points were scored in the second half. A great comeback! The second game against a combined Solingen/Münster team, was won convincingly 40:5!

After the full pitch had been prepared for the only official U14 game, our boys teamed up with players from RSV Köln, making a good effort and eventually winning their match. This game was followed by two more friendly U14 matches, which were followed by the remaining visitors and players with great interest.

All teams and coaches demonstrated good sportsmanship and fair play throughout the day.

Following their respective matches, it was nice to observe the children of all age groups and clubs getting along well, enjoying each other's company and experiencing another fun day of rugby together.
