What a weekend for the Dragons!

News-52-Intro

On Saturday, the Dragons hosted the Griffin Cup Rugby League match between the German and the Dutch national teams. Two active Dragons, and two former Dragons, were selected to play for the German side. Although spectators are more used to seeing Rugby Union at the Dragons pitch, everyone enjoyed the opportunity to watch a game of Rugby League. The German national team fought with passion and commitment, but they sadly could not resist the Dutch team's tactics.
The game was followed by a lively third half in a very friendly atmosphere in our clubhouse and a traditional visit to our sponsor in the Altstadt, McLaughlin's Irish Pub.

In the meantime, our U16 and U18 players, who both had games in the Netherlands with their teammates from the RC Aachen, managed to come home with a win. The U16 brought back home a solid result with 38 - 5 vs "RC The Dukes" and the U18 won their game 31 - 19 against "RC Hilversu". Congratulations to all players involved in achieving these very good results.

On Sunday, our children from the U8, U10, U12 and U14 went to Aachen to participate in a children's tournament.
All players involved in Dragons teams or mixed teams managed to win some of their games.
The results of the day for our players are:
U8: 4th Place
U10: 3rd Place
U12: 3rd Place
U14: 2nd Place
The most important part of this day is that all children got the chance to experience Rugby in a game situation and they all had a lot of fun during this very well organised tournament. So, congratulations to our young players for making a good impression on the pitch and thank you to all parents who helped so their children could enjoy the day.
