Exciting times for our young Dragons

On Sunday 17th September, the young Dragons from the U8, U10 and U12 groups participated in their first tournament of the season in Aachen.
The beautiful weather and great organisation by the RC Aachen made contributed to make this Sunday a great day of Rugby.

For some of the players, it was a long waiting time since the last tournament occurred and they were very keen on meeting the other participating teams on the pitch.
For other players, this tournament was a completely new experience as a lot of players have recently joined the ranks of the Dragons and had never experienced the real game situation before.

For all, the tournament was a great success.
Our U8 team managed to reach the second position of the tournament with two wins and one draw. A very good achievement considering the number of new players in the team. Well done to them.
The U10 team ended in the third position. A great result for a team that also includes a lot of players who are new to rugby.
The U12 team ended up last of their group. This result does not reflect the attitude of the team on the pitch. They started the day with some difficulties to play as a team, which was expected for a first tournament. Game after game, the team changed its way of playing and improved in all areas (attacking moves, defence line, strong tackles, team spirit). As a result, every game was only lost by one try difference, which proves the potential of this team to do better.
All in all, players and trainers come back from this first tournament with a good understanding of what worked already and what needs to be reinforced in each age group.
