NRW Children rugby tournament at the Dragons

On Sunday 21st of May the Düsseldorf Dragons were once again allowed to welcome a home tournament at their club for the NRW rugby youth league with the U8, U10 and U12 age groups. Players from neighbouring clubs of amongst others Aachen, Bonn, Essen and Köln joyfully met at our club to compete against each other.

The Dragons were able to set up two U8 teams, which competed against teams from RSV Köln and a mixed team of RC Aachen, RC Essen & RC Hürth. All children had a lot of fun playing and the mixed team was able to lead the U8 table at the end of day just ahead of Köln.

For the U10, the Düsseldorf Dragons were able to set up two teams (one with players of RC Essen) to compete against strong teams of Köln and RC Essen / RC Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. Following an exciting group phase, Düsseldorf 1 played and won against Köln 6:0 to convincingly claim their tournament win.

The U12 saw three teams competing: RSV Köln, Düsseldorf Dragons and the Aachen-Düsseldorf Pirates, made up of three determined Dragons players. After a hard-fought match by the Pirates against Düsseldorf that ended in a 5:5 draw, the Pirates conceded 8:1 against a strong RSV Köln team. In an exciting final the RSV Köln team finally managed to claim victory over the Düsseldorf Dragons 7:5 and win the tournament.

We would like to kindly thank all players, referees, coaches, parents and visitors for another wonderful day of rugby, once again celebrating our beloved sport. We're looking forward to meeting you again at the next tournament!
